SC/ST Cell

SC / ST Cell

The SC/ST Cell at MIETW is established in accordance with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Government of India to safeguard the academic rights, welfare, and interests of students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities. The cell ensures an inclusive, discrimination-free campus environment where every student has equal access to opportunities.


Objectives

  • Protect the academic and civil rights of SC/ST students and staff
  • Address complaints of discrimination or caste-based harassment with prompt redressal
  • Assist SC/ST students in availing government scholarships, fee concessions, and welfare schemes
  • Provide academic support and counselling to SC/ST students facing difficulties
  • Organise awareness programmes on constitutional rights, reservation policies, and social equality
  • Liaise with the university and government bodies on SC/ST welfare matters

Support Services

  • Scholarship Assistance — Guidance on Telangana State SC/ST scholarship applications; pre-matric and post-matric schemes
  • Fee Reimbursement — Support in applying for TS-EPASS (Electronic Payment and Application System for Scholarships)
  • Academic Counselling — Remedial classes and mentoring for SC/ST students needing additional academic support
  • Grievance Redressal — Confidential mechanism for reporting caste-based discrimination or harassment
  • Career Guidance — Information on government job reservations, competitive exams, and career opportunities

Awareness Programmes

  • Lectures on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's vision on Constitution Day (26 November)
  • Awareness sessions on constitutional rights and anti-discrimination laws
  • Celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti (14 April) with talks and cultural programmes
