Women Protection Cell

The Women Protection Cell (WPC) at MIETW is constituted in compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and UGC guidelines. The cell provides a safe, supportive, and confidential mechanism for women students, faculty, and staff to raise concerns and seek redressal against any form of gender-based harassment or discrimination.

Objectives

  • Prevent sexual harassment and gender discrimination on campus
  • Provide a safe and confidential platform for raising complaints
  • Ensure prompt and fair inquiry and resolution of complaints
  • Sensitise the campus community on gender equality and women's rights
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive learning and working environment

Scope

The WPC addresses complaints related to:

  • Sexual harassment in any form — verbal, non-verbal, physical, or electronic
  • Gender-based discrimination in academic or professional settings
  • Any behaviour that creates a hostile or unsafe environment for women

Complaint Procedure

  1. The complainant submits a written complaint to the WPC Chairperson or drops it in the complaint box.
  2. The cell acknowledges receipt within 7 working days and initiates a confidential inquiry.
  3. Both parties are given an opportunity to present their case.
  4. The inquiry is completed within 90 days and findings are reported to the Principal.
  5. Appropriate action is taken based on the inquiry report.
